Got the tutorial here. The design is based on the fold over plastic sandwich bags. I made 3 different sizes, one for sandwiches, big snack and little snack. I forgot the name of this type of fabric, i think its called sport fabric? Not sure! But its washable, anti microbial, and food safe. you could do them with reg. fabric like she does!
Super fast to make! I am going to write on the front with sharpies.

Don't throw away those cereal boxes!

I have a cool craft you can do with them!

You can make little notebooks! Just like those expensive moleskin ones at the store that cost $10 each! Just cut the back and front to whatever size you want, I had a small box so these are 9x6. Then cut your paper the same or a little smaller, fold in half and sew down the middle(by hand or with machine) I LOVE these things I could have a hundred and it not be enough! Great for the kids to doodle in at church or wherever. With my extra paper I made a little skinny note pad for jotting the million things I need to do or things I need to get from the store. And since we eat a lot of cereal I guess I will be making quite a few of these! I think I will have the kids decorate the outside of there's with stickers or paint or nice paper or whatever. The ideas or limitless! I love recycling don't you?

When it's to hot outside to cook or do anything!

I stay inside and sew!
I finally made a couple of bags that I have had on my mind, for ever!

This one I took my time and it turned out great, large bag with large pockets. I even did a little quilting on the front and back, also lined it real good so it's nice and sturdy.
The pockets are even lined.
This one is a huge bag, I changed the handles to be these braided ones. the pattern didn't have you line it with anything, so I didn't, and now I wish I did. Just have to make another one I guess.
Its nice and works well it's just very floppy all over the place!

These are about 8in by 5in, I added the little loop to it. Perfect for Cheerios at church!
I got the idea from this talented gal.

Camera Case I made last week ,just forgot to blog about it! I couldn't find one at the store, it was either to big or to small so I just made one.
Sorry to much flash!

Our rocks we painted yesterday.

A baby wipes case that I covered, I am supposed to teach this at our wards super Saturday in September so I am practicing, The Ric rack is to wide and shows to much of the case so I am going to try another one with different trim.

Did you guys know Martha Stewart's Crafts are at Wal Mart now??? I love her line! I think we spent 30 minutes in the craft isle, poor kids! Well Annalyse likes that stuff, Zander was getting antsy. I got the glitter stamp kit and cant wait to make thank you cards for all the wonderful birthday gifts I received!

Totes

A friend of mine made this way cute bag for the baby. And then she had her Young Women in her ward make one for there scriptures and I thought that was a great idea, so I made Annalyse one for her scriptures and paper and writing stuff and what ever else she feels she needs to take to church. Since the baby is not here yet I am using it for Z's stuff to keep him busy at church, it is the the perfect size for some crayons, paper, couple books, and snacks cause he can't go 3 hours without food! My friend sells them to , she has all kinds of cute ones if your interested! Check it out here

This is the one I made Annalyse, did I tell you they are made out of a place mat?

Sewing Monday

The play dough worked keeping Z busy so I coud make these birp rags, so soft on one side cool on the other. I made 2 of each pattern. Now he can spit up in style!

I made these for a friend who is due a month befor me in April, she is having a little girl so I can make all the cute things for her.
I made this little frog for A's teacher, there class are the frogs. We are going to give it to her for V Day. She is missing some eyes, I didn't have any to give her.
And then I made these cute little onsies for the baby, I have always wanted to to do these! I will probably do some more but with animal shapes.
I hope ya'll had a good productive Monday, I sure did and it feels good to get things done for once!

Play Dough

This recipe came from my very first cookbook I got when I was about 9? I loved it and made quite a few things from it, one of which was this Play Dough. My kids love play dough and will play with it for hours and I don't mind to much, they do make a mess but if you just let it dry you can sweep it right up! So I made some for Z today so I can do some sewing! I have about 1-2 hours!

Play Dough

1 cup white flour
1/4 cup salt
1 tablespoon vegitable oil
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
2 teaspoons food coloring
1 cup water

1. Mix flour, salt and cream of tarter in a medium pot.
2. Add water, food coloring and oil.
3. Stir over medium heat for 3-5 minutes. Dont worry if the mixture looks like a globby mess; it will turn into dough!
4. When the mixture forms a ball in the center of the pot turn off the stove and let cool. Then take it out of the pot and kneed it on the counter for a few minutes until you have a nice ball of dough!
When you finished make sure to put it in an air tight container or plastic baggie for next time.

Crafting With My Girl

Annalyse and I finally got around to making these cute little candy ornaments. They came from the Martha Stewart kids Magazine a year or two ago. It is just Peppermint Candy's and red hots glued together. We also made a gingerbread man wreath but when we put the red hots on has buttons they melted into them (it wasn't gingerbread it was the cinnamon dough that hardens). So I had to throw it out. Maybe we will try again.
I am going to be prepping a bunch of things for Christmas dinner this week and putting into the freezer, like cookie dough, pie dough, cranberry sauce, cheese ball, and my be the rolls un-baked. If you want me to blog any of the recipes let me know.
We finally got pretty much all of our shopping done this weekend, it was a lot of fun shopping with the hubby who never goes shopping. I think he was really into it because Z is old enough to know whats going on, so he went a little overboard with the boy toys, I think he is excited to have his boys and do all the crazy things him and his 3 brothers did!
I think I will do some sewing today, Nursery yesterday did me in!
P.S. Please dont look at the mess in the background, or all of the handprints on the back door!

Another Apron

This one is for the Pink Christmas Swap that I am a part of. I know its not pink but it doesn't have to be, the whole thing about Pink Christmas is that it is homemade.

I am going to have to make my self one! I just don't like any of the fabric at Wal-Mart and I haven't made it to the big town to get some cool stuff. And I better hurry cause pretty soon its not going to fit around my waist!

Apron

I am so proud of this little retro number, I made it for my mother in-laws birthday. It came out so cute I think I am going to have to make me one. It came from the Bend the Rules Sewing book by Amy Carol. This book is so awesome! It has gotten me wanting to sew.

Art Bags

I just made these art bags for the kids to take on our trip to Utah in a few weeks. I saw them in a store and thought it was so cute but didn't want to pay $20 each for one so I thought I could try to make them. They came out pretty good you put the crayons (I like the destabilise) on one side and your little note book on the other side and it closes up with a little tab with Velcro and has cute little handles. Zander loves his I just have to hide them until its time to leave!

Olive

Olive the sister of Archie is done! I just love the patterns from Wee Wonderfuls, they are real easy to do. So now they are together at last and have been renamed Max and Ruby. I really think we should stop watching that cartoon! It is seeping into there brains.
I am sorry that my child never has any clothes on in these pictures, he just takes off whatever he has on when he is at home. I guess he likes to run free!

Archie Doll

Look its Archie from Wee Wonderful! I made him yesterday for Zander, he liked his boots! He kept saying boots boots! I think he renamed him Max, after his all time favorite cartoon Max and Ruby, which he will watch 100 times in a row! (not that I let him!). I am going to try to make his sister Olive today for Annalyse. You can download the pattern at Wee Wonderfuls .

Makeup Bag

I had order some fabric from online, its Amy Butler I absolutely love her stuff. And I didn't know what to make and I kept seeing everyone online make these little bags so I thought I would give it a try. I use mine as a makeup bag. There not that hard to make, I'm making another one for my sister.
The pattern or picture I went off of is from the angry chicken blog, she has a great book that I want to get that has lots of cute things to sew. I think its called Bend the Rules Sewing.

Pillows

The ones on the left are the ones from the website.

Does mine look like them?

I think the tail got lost! I think I need to practice some more and get darker eyes! Well the first one is not always the best one! Looking at them side by side I think mine looks retarded! I'm a little embarrassed now!

sewing summer!

I keep seeing all these cute things to sew! Like these adorable pillows, mine didn't turn out quite like the ones in the picture but Annalyse loves it. (the pattern is from Amy Butler online)

I also made the carpi's out of bandanna's (from Martha Stewart Kids). They are so easy to make! and real light for these hot summer months.

I don't know why I am sewing so much this summer, probably 'cause I live in the sticks and its to far to go to town all the time! Whatever it is Annalyse is benefiting the most from it. I do plan to make Zander a pillow in boy fabric so he will get at least one thing from my summer of sewing! My next thing is to try to do a quilt for Annalyse's bed.

New outfit

I made this outfit for Annalyse today, I saw some capris at Market Days in Boerne and have been wanting to make her some cute ones. I designed the shirt to go with it. As soon as I sew the others we will model them for ya'll. As you can tell she loves to be in front of the camera!

The crafty side of me

Here are a couple of things I like to make. One is a cloth diaper with a piece of fabric sewn on top. The next one is a diaper and wipes holder. I bought a blue one when I had Zander and thaught I can make that! So I made a pink one for a friend.
